Ariana Marie Garcia

Hey y'all. I’m Ariana. I’m a freelance journalist living in Houston, Texas. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

 

Most recently, I worked for the Austin American-Statesman where I covered covered community news happening in the Central Texas area. I’ve just about covered anything you can think of. Features are my favorite.

 

I’ve always had a heart for writing since I was a kid, which probably stems from me flipping through the pages of J-14 and Self magazines as a child or eavesdropping on CNN while my parents watched. Today I feel honored to be in a position where I can help others share their stories. 

 

Oh, and I’m also pretty good with a camera. Trying to capture the emotion of a moment in a story has made me a better photographer and it's one of the things that I enjoy the most about reporting.
